The plaintiffs allege that “Apple promoted AI capabilities that did not exist at the time, do not exist now, and will not exist for two or more years, if ever, all while marketing them as the breakthrough innovation of the iPhone 16.”
According to the complaint, Apple (AAPL) marketed the “enhanced Siri” personal assistant as an Apple Intelligence tool that would “perform a wide range of sophisticated tasks.” Millions of consumers purchased or upgraded to the iPhone 16 because of the AI campaign launched in 2024, the complaint said, adding that Apple later admitted in March 2025 that the marketed functionality did not yet exist.
Apple denied the allegations in the lawsuit and contended that it did nothing improper or unlawful.
