Cemex has posted gains across every major financial metric and a substantial jump in cash generation for the third quarter of 2026, underscoring the effect of its continuing transformation strategy, according to AggBusiness. The worldwide building materials manufacturer saw sales rise 8% in the quarter, with EBITDA up 12% to US$990 million and EBIT advancing 19%.
Both profit measures grew faster than revenue, signalling further gains in operating efficiency and margins. Cash generation stood out in the quarter: Cemex delivered a record third-quarter Free Cash Flow from Operations of US$723 million, a 34% increase year on year. For the year to date, free cash flow almost tripled, climbing 194% to US$1.4 billion, and the trailing 12-month cash conversion rate came in at 60%.
Cemex attributed the performance to stronger pricing, higher consolidated cement volumes and the ongoing deployment of its Project Cutting Edge programme, aimed at lifting operational efficiency and profitability throughout the business. The company also noted advances in its asset pruning effort, a key element of Project Cutting Edge. Since the programme began last year, completed and announced divestments have brought in more than US$200 million in expected proceeds and covered over 140 facilities globally. Cemex said the approach is centred on boosting asset efficiency and enhancing EBIT, free cash flow and return on invested capital, while freeing up investment for higher-value growth opportunities.
In the quarter, Cemex closed the sale of its ready-mix and recycled concrete operations in Atlanta and signed a long-term cement and admixtures supply agreement with the purchaser. It also began exclusive talks with Vicat Group over the proposed divestment of selected ready-mix concrete and aggregates assets in southeastern France.
CEO Jaime Muguiro said the company kept delivering on its strategic priorities despite a difficult economic backdrop. He attributed the results to the discipline built through Project Cutting Edge and the organisation’s emphasis on controllable factors and continuous improvement.
By region, Mexico remained a major growth engine, helped by higher cement demand and cost efficiencies. US sales rose 5% on stronger cement and aggregates volumes. In EMEA, EBITDA increased 4%, supported by pricing gains and operational improvements despite higher energy costs, while robust demand in Colombia and Jamaica bolstered results across South and Central America and the Caribbean.
The figures indicate that Cemex’s transformation programme continues to reinforce profitability and cash generation despite persistent macroeconomic uncertainty.
