Justin Sun Says Tron Launches Quantum-Resistant Testnet, Prepares Mainnet Rollout – bloomingbit
Summary
Forecast Trend Report by Period
Tron has deployed encryption technology designed to withstand quantum-computing attacks on its testnet. Founder Justin Sun said the network is also ready to bring the feature to the mainnet.
Cointelegraph reported on October 10 that Sun wrote on X that Tron is closely tracking advances in quantum computing and artificial intelligence and is prepared to activate quantum-resistant features on the mainnet at any time.
Sun also said Tron plans to move before “Q-Day,” the point at which quantum computers could break existing cryptographic systems. He said Tron aims to become one of the few major blockchains with quantum resistance before Q-Day and will follow through on its commitment to protect user assets.
Advances in quantum computing are also posing challenges for blockchain transaction verification systems. Elliptic-curve cryptography used by Bitcoin and Ethereum could face security risks once quantum computers reach sufficient computing power. That has fueled discussion around replacing existing cryptographic methods with technology that can withstand quantum attacks.
Other blockchain projects have also outlined research and adoption plans. The Ethereum Foundation has published a proposal to shift account cryptography to a quantum-resistant model, while Algorand plans to introduce quantum-resistant accounts by 2027. A consortium led by Strategy also pledged earlier this year to provide $15 million for Bitcoin quantum-security research.
