LBMC Names Charlie Apigian to Lead AI and Data Transformation Practice – Inside Public Accounting
Brentwood, Tenn.-based IPA 100 firm LBMC (FY25 net revenue of $240.8 million) appointed Charlie Apigian as shareholder and practice leader of its AI and Data Transformation practice.
Apigian will lead the firm’s growing AI and data advisory team, which has doubled in headcount over the past year. The practice works with middle-market organizations on AI readiness, data strategy and architecture, business intelligence, generative AI and custom application development.
“Charlie’s addition fundamentally changes what we can deliver,” said Jim Meade, CEO and managing shareholder of LBMC. “What our clients need is someone who can cut through the noise, show them where the real opportunities are in their specific business and help them act on the ones that matter.”
Apigian spent 25 years in higher education and built data science institutes at Middle Tennessee State University and Belmont University, serving as director of each. He has also been named Data Scientist of the Year and IT Community Leader of the Year by the Nashville Technology Council.
His recent book, AI Reimagined: A Leader’s Guide to Thinking Different with Data, focuses on helping business leaders move from an organizational AI vision to an executable use case.
IPA publishes quarterly IPA Insights on the accounting profession and the annual IPA Practice Management Report, along with in-depth reports focused on Information Technology, Human Resources and Firm Administration.
