CDO brgy beefs up drive to address youth-related crimes – GMA Network
Officials of Barangay Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City has intensified its peace and order drive to address problems involving children in conflict with the law (CICL) in the community.
The barangay council said the presence of young people allegedly involved in criminal activities late at night remains a continuing concern in the barangay.
Authorities said some of the minors have reportedly been involved in disturbances, including riots and theft incidents.
Officials said the implementation of curfew hours has been enforced strictly as part of the measures.
During the series of operations conducted by barangay tanods, several minors have already been rescued while others were endorsed to the police station for proper intervention.
Authorities also confiscated bladed weapons during the operations.
However, the barangay admitted that patrolling in the area is not enough to solve the problem.
The barangay explained that some minors often return to roaming the streets after undergoing interventions from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) and other groups.
Barangay officials are appealing to parents to properly look after and guide their children.
