A Michigan doctor is giving cash to pregnant moms. And it's working – ClickOnDetroit | WDIV Local 4
The RX Kids program, launched in Flint in 2024 by Dr. Mona Hanna, provides financial assistance to pregnant mothers and families with newborns, distributing $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 monthly for the first six months after birth. Active in 13 Metro Detroit communities and supporting over 5,600 families, the program has been linked to significant improvements, including drops in preterm births and low birthweight rates, as well as better housing stability, food security, mental health, and prenatal care, according to a study by MSU and the University of Michigan.
