Welder in CDO falls to death from reservoir tank following explosion – GMA Network
A 42-year-old welder died following an explosion that caused him to fall from the reservoir tank he was working on at an oil company in Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro.
Police are investigating what exploded exactly but they are looking into the oil inside the 9-meter reservoir tank, which may have triggered the blast.
The welder sustained burns after the explosion.
“Sa atong investigation atong nakita nga purely accidental siya wala ta’y nakita nga foul play kay kining biktima samtang siya nag-welding sa atop sa tangke containing edible oil ni siya,” Cugman Police Station Investigator, Senior Master Sergeant Brian Hope Carillo, said.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao tried to reach out to the management of the company for a statement but to no avail.
The family of the welder also refused to comment.
Authorities said the company and the family of the welder have reportedly reached an agreement.
“Unta kita before ta mutrabaho isiguro nato nga siguro nga luwas ang atong pagtrabaho ug ang atong gitrabahoan isip gyud i-secure gyud nato ang atong kinabuhi kay usa ra ang atong kinabuhi,” Carillo added.
