Audience Analysis: Players Championship has lowest Sunday finish since 2014 – Sports Business Journal
NASCAR has now seen Cup Series audience gains on Fox for the fourth straight week (after a rain-soaked Daytona run on a Monday). Denny Hamlin’s win at Bristol on Sunday drew 3.81 million viewers, up 11% from 3.42 million viewers for Atlanta in the fifth race last year. While the Cup Series is still down with the Daytona rainout, Fox is up 11% for the races since then. Outside of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show, NASCAR was the top sports telecast last week.
The chart below lists viewership for select recent sports telecasts.

Also on the show, Poynter Institute senior writer Tom Jones shares who he has up and who is down in sports media. Later, SBJ’s Ben Portnoy talks the latest on ESPN’s CFP extension and who CBS, TNT Sports and ESPN need to make deep runs in the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments.
