Vancouver billionaire Chip Wilson saw his massive amount of wealth drop slightly compared to last year.
Forbes released its World’s Billionaires List earlier this month, which features many wealthy Canadians, including some from right here in B.C., like Wilson and Jim Pattison.
Several other Canadians who are either from B.C. or have ties to the province made the list as well.
All figures are in USD.
Changpeng Zhao/X
Zhao is known for co-founding cryptocurrency companies like Binance and Blockchain.com. He is the richest Canadian on the list and the 17th richest in the world, with a net worth of $110 billion. That’s a huge jump compared to last year, when Forbes listed him with a net worth of $62.9 billion.
In the late ’80s, when Zhao was around 12 years old, he and his family emigrated to Canada, settling down in Vancouver, B.C.
Reports suggest that Zhao ran into some legal troubles beginning in 2023 due to allegedly breaching derivatives rules.

Pattison, one of the oldest Canadian billionaires on the list at 97 years old, was listed with a net worth of $12 billion, a slight increase compared to last year when Forbes listed him with a net worth of $11.4 billion.
“Jim Pattison oversees a sprawling group that operates 20 divisions, including packaging, food and entertainment,” Forbes says.
Brydson is Canada’s richest woman, with a net worth of $11.5 billion, a major drop compared to last year, when her net worth was $16.7 billion.
Forbes said she’s one of six billionaire heirs to the media and publishing empire founded by her grandfather, Roy Thomson. The Thomson family is known for the Reuters publication.
Another person whose net worth dropped fairly significantly is Cheriton. After seeing his net worth grow from $9 billion in 2023 to $14.3 billion in 2025, it dropped to $9.8 billion in 2026.
Forbes says that Cheriton made his fortune thanks to an “early investment in Google.”
Cheriton, who is a UBC alumnus, was born in Vancouver.

This year, Forbes lists Wilson’s net worth at $6.5 billion, a drop compared to 2024 and 2025 when it was $6.8 billion, but a jump compared to 2023, when it was $5 billion.
Wilson has been in the news more than just a little bit over the past year, sometimes for controversial reasons.
He recently launched a campaign to “change” lululemon and return it to its former glory.
Wilson not only saw a drop in his net worth, but he also saw a substantial drop in the value of his home earlier this year when the latest BC Assessment figures were released.
You can’t mention B.C. billionaires without talking about the Gaglardi family. Gaglardi founded Northland Properties, which operates in the hotel, restaurant, sports, and construction sectors.
Gaglardi saw his family’s net worth rise from $5.1 billion in 2025 to $5.6 billion in 2026.
You can find the full list of billionaires on the Forbes website.
