ProtecTEEN reinforced for young CDO mothers – The Manila Times

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 10 reinforced its ProtecTEEN Program by conducting healing and transformation sessions for adolescent mothers in Cagayan de Oro City.
The sessions benefited 278 young mothers in a bid by DSWD to continue guiding them toward informed and responsible life choices.
DSWD said the activity was carried out in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Community Improvement Division (CID) of the local government.
The agency described the initiative as a unified commitment among stakeholders to protect adolescent mothers and provide them with interventions that promote healing and empowerment.
Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said on Thursday that the ProtecTEEN Program goes beyond information drives and aims to create long-term transformation among beneficiaries.
“Through the ProtecTEEN Program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development strengthens the capacity of young mothers to protect themselves, uphold their dignity, and build better futures for their children,” Dumlao said.
She added that the program is designed to help adolescent mothers develop self-awareness and make decisions that will improve their lives and their families.
The DSWD said the enhanced ProtecTEEN program provides strengthened psychosocial interventions, parenting support, capacity-building opportunities, and access to resources that help young mothers regain confidence and direction.
Participants engaged in structured sharing, guided conversations, and reflective exercises that encouraged peer support, critical thinking, and better understanding of sexuality’s impact on emotional, physical, and social well-being.
