Reports suggest Anthropic is raising $10bn, making it one of the most valuable start-ups in the world, as the appetite for AI investment continues unabated.
Claude maker and OpenAI rival Anthropic looks set be to valued at $350bn, as reports say it is raising a $10bn round, making it one of the most valuable AI start-ups in the world.
Originally reported by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC and Bloomberg are also citing sources saying the investment round will be led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC, and Coatue Management and include existing investors like Microsoft and Nvidia.
In just September of last year, Anthropic raised $13bn in a funding round led by Iconiq, valuing the company at a post-money $183bn, cementing its place as a true competitor to OpenAI. So the mooted fundraise would represent a remarkable increase in valuation in the space of one quarter.
Anthropic was founded by siblings and OpenAI alumni Dario and Daniela Amodei, with a mission to build on the principles of responsible AI.
Since its inception, it has vied to become the reliable choice for enterprise, as well as power users and developers, and said in September that it now serves more than 300,000 business customers, while its number of large accounts – customers that each represent over $100,000 in run-rate revenue – has grown nearly sevenfold in the past year.
Salesforce Ventures has been on board since its Series C round and has helped facilitate that reach into enterprise – Claude is integrated into Salesforce Einstein 1 Studio.
Anthropic launched its Dublin presence in 2024, establishing the city as its Europe, Middle East and Africa headquarters, and in September last year, the company announced that it would be tripling its global workforce. The expansion plans include more than 100 new jobs, primarily across Dublin and London.
