Alexandr Wang, Meta Chief AI Officer
Meta has named Alexandr Wang, former CEO of Scale AI, as its new Chief AI Officer. In this role, Wang will co-lead the newly established Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) alongside Nat Friedman, former CEO of GitHub. The appointment follows Meta’s $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI and marks a significant step in the company’s pursuit of artificial superintelligence.
Wang’s transition from leading one of the most influential AI data infrastructure companies to spearheading Meta’s AI strategy signals the company’s intent to accelerate innovation at scale. As Chief AI Officer, he will help guide MSL’s research and development efforts, with a focus on advancing cutting-edge AI technologies.
Meta Superintelligence Labs brings together leading AI talent from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Waymo, and other major research organizations. Under Wang and Friedman’s leadership, MSL aims to position Meta at the forefront of AI innovation, with a particular emphasis on building systems that push the boundaries of multimodal understanding, generative models, and human–machine intelligence.
Wang’s appointment is widely seen as a pivotal moment for Meta, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to shaping the future of superintelligent systems.
