WAMC public radio names Lizzie Honan new CDO – The Post Star
Lizzie Honan, WAMC public radio’s new Chief Development Officer as of July 31, 2025.
REGIONAL — The AM radio station covering our area, WAMC Northeast Public Radio, announced the appointment Lizzie Honan as its new Chief Development Officer on July 31.
According to a WAMC press release, the Albany native and lifelong New Yorker will bring nearly 20 years of strategic leadership and nonprofit fundraising experience to the role. Honan has built a career helping organizations at pivotal points in their development grow, aligning opportunity, vision, and momentum. Her work has supported institutions across New York, including the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, RevJen Group, Edible Schoolyard NYC, and Madison Square Park Conservancy.
“WAMC’s commitment to independent journalism and community connection is more vital than ever,” said Honan. “I’m honored to join this brilliant and passionate team along with the loyal listener base. Fundraising is truly a team effort, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues at WAMC to strengthen relationships, build partnerships, and keep public media thriving.”
At the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Honan lead the team that raised $16.5 million out of the historic $17.5 million capital campaign, WAMC stated. She also played a key role in doubling contributed revenue at Edible Schoolyard NYC and helped grow Madison Square Park Conservancy’s annual budget to over $4 million.
“Lizzie is joining WAMC at an exciting and important time,” said Sarah Gilbert, Chief Operating Officer of WAMC. “She has a proven track record of strengthening fundraising programs and building strong relationships with donors and community partners. Her energy, creativity, and leadership will be a huge asset to WAMC as we grow our impact and reach.”
A graduate of Brooklyn College, Honan returned to Albany in 2021 and now lives in the city with her dog, Boomer. She is a recent graduate of the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Institute (Class of 2024) and was named to City & State and NYN Media’s Nonprofit 40 Under 40 in 2021.
When she’s not working, Honan enjoys spending her time around natural bodies of water, exploring new places with friends, and, as of recently, kickboxing. However, she’s usually at her happiest when hanging out with Boomer.
