Westpac appoints Andrew McMullan as new chief data, digital and AI officer – FinTech Futures
Dr McMullan joins Westpac from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he most recently served as chief data and analytics officer.

Australian banking giant Westpac has named former RBS exec Dr Andrew McMullan as its new chief data, digital and AI officer.
Westpac says McMullan will take up the role in September 2025 and will oversee the bank's "data analytics, digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives, with a strong focus on the responsible use of data and AI" to boost its customer and employee experience.
Reporting directly to CEO Anthony Miller, who was promoted to lead the bank in December 2024, McMullan will also collaborate with CIO Scott Collary to support the delivery of UNITE, the bank's multi-year business and technology simplification initiative.
"By integrating our data, digital and AI functions under Andrew’s leadership, we aim to become a truly service-centric organisation," Miller says.
McMullan brings nearly two decades of industry experience, joining Westpac from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he most recently served as chief data and analytics officer.
McMullan's career also includes over eight years at RBS, where he held various technology leadership roles, including head of product analytics and director of analytics, customer decisioning and customer contact for personal and business banking.
