Devotees fulfill ‘Panaad’ at pilgrimage sites in CDO – GMA Network | News
More than 4,000 Catholic devotees have started their journey to the Guadalupe Shrine in Barangay Balubal, Cagayan de Oro City morning on Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Those performing their penitence will have to cross the river nine times and walk challenging trails to reach the shrine and complete their ‘Panaad.’
Ropes have been placed to serve as guides for devotees as they cross the river.
Meanwhile, more than 1,000 devotees visited the Malasag walkway in Barangay Cugman as of Thursday morning.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) said earlier that the two pilgrimage sites will open at 4 a.m. until 5 a.m. at the Guadalupe Shrine and 10 p.m. at the Malasag walkway.
Drinking alcoholic beverages, smoking (including vapes), bringing large speakers and bladed weapons, and overnight camping are prohibited strictly.
Police and personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Department of Health are on standby to respond to emergencies.
More devotees are expected to visit the sites on Good Friday.
