Leora Hanser is leaving her role as NPR’s CDO to fill the same position at Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood announced Hanser’s hire in a press release Thursday. “We know we have hard work ahead at Planned Parenthood, and we know we need the most talented, committed people to meet our mission,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Leora’s proven track record shows she will help us build new relationships and transform how we reach donors. She will be a dynamic partner and leader joining the fight for sexual and reproductive health care at the right moment.”
“I am humbled and thrilled to be joining Planned Parenthood at this critical time,” Hanser said in the release. “The challenges facing access to sexual and reproductive health care continue to grow and I am honored to lead efforts to ensure support for Planned Parenthood patients, staff, and the broader movement. I look forward to the work ahead.”
Hanser joined NPR in 2021 after working as CDO for the US Soccer Foundation. During her time at the network, she helped grow major giving, oversaw the introduction of online donations to the NPR Network, and led publication of a position paper in response to the Press Forward funding opportunity. The Planned Parenthood release said Hanser “achieved record-breaking revenue results” at NPR “by implementing a transformational change strategy.”
The House Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency is concerned about “blatantly ideological and partisan coverage,” Greene wrote in letters to PBS’ Paula Kerger and NPR’s Katherine Maher.
