Verizon will soon offer a discounted Google One AI Premium subscription to its customers, the company has announced.
Starting February 6th, the carrier will expand its current list of discounted perks by adding Google’s AI-powered cloud storage subscription for $10 a month, half of its regular $19.99 monthly price. That comes to a total saving of almost $120.
For that, Verizon customers get access to 2TB of cloud storage, Gemini Advanced and Gemini in Workspace apps (Gmail, Docs and others).
Subscribers also get access to Google’s member benefits, including the following.
Gemini Advanced is the headline offer and the extra storage is essential for digital hoarders, but Google’s extra benefits are also an important part of the deal. I have found the unlimited Magic Editor saves more useful than I expected. The 10% refund on Google Store purchases will also come in handy when Google launches another product sale, as it has done repeatedly over the last 18 months.
There are, however, three missing pieces of the puzzle in Google’s storage plan; YouTube Premium, Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware. The latter two have been rolled into the $20-a-month subscription for U.K. customers, but U.S. customers have been left out.
Similarly, Google has remained steadfast on keeping YouTube Premium separate from its entire subscription line up. The only deal available on YouTube Premium right now comes from Verizon, which is an option in its perk bundle at $10 a month—saving $3.99.
A potentially cheaper way to access Google’s AI premium is buying an unlocked Pixel 9 directly from Google, which comes with a year free of Google One AI Premium, and then picking up a cheap SIM-only deal. You will get all of the above benefits without being tied to Verizon’s pricing plans. If you do that, wait until Google discounts the Pixel 9 again.
