The future of AI is uncertain. On one hand, AI has the potential to bring about significant societal benefits, such as improved healthcare, more efficient transportation, and enhanced productivity

For instance, a report from Accenture suggests that around 40% of all working hours could be impacted by AI large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT-4. Moreover, 75% of organizations are planning to introduce AI over the next five years, according to the World Economic Forum. On the other hand, a quarter of workers (24%) are worried AI will make their job obsolete, with fears about AI job displacement running much higher among workers of color, younger workers, and lower-salaried workers.

In terms of cybersecurity, AI’s role in enhancing existing threats is becoming increasingly apparent. The World Economic Forum’s Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2023, in collaboration with Accenture, examines the cybersecurity trends that will impact our economies and societies in the year to come.
